Yuri Alves has written and/or directed more than 15 original films, which have garnered over one dozen festival awards around the world. Film and advertising companies in Europe, New York and Los Angeles have hired Yuri to direct commercials, music videos and other projects. Alves was Director and Head of Post-Production for FOX Digital Studios in Los Angeles and is co-founder and Creative Director at DreamPlay Media. In 2013, participated in two art exhibitions, “Etiquette for Lucid Dreaming,” and “Sign of the Nation” with original video works, respectively.
Alves’s filmmaking moved from personal passion to a life calling immediately after the September 11th attacks in 2001. Yuri documented his high school’s dramatic experience, and presented the world’s first 9/11 documentary, “The Day the World Changed,” to an audience of 2500 one week later, for which he received Presidential recognition. In 2011, Alves directed two television episodes in Portugal as part of the prime-time series “Tempo Final,” for which he received critical acclaim. That same year, Yuri wrote and directed “Broken Clouds,” which won numerous film festival awards worldwide and was screened to tens of thousands of people, in New Jersey, New York, Los Angeles and Portugal.
He is in post-production on a feature-length documentary film named “Paint the Rust,” and in development / pre-production on original feature films and television shows.
